Challenge.

BBVA has made it a priority to contribute to the global effort against climate change. To that end, the bank wanted to create a unique campaign to stand out and promote awareness.

The result was “Seeds for the Future,” a transmedia initiative designed to raise awareness of the importance of preserving biodiversity and to draw attention to the depletion of natural resources. The campaign aims to inspire responsible eating habits by showcasing local, high-quality gastronomy.

Impact.

The journey began with a gastronomic project that led to a remarkable documentary. Over 18 months, the project evolved into an extensive content plan and involved visits to 10 seed banks and 50 organizations across three continents. The result was a movement that resonated with many and culminated in an appearance at the FAO International Summit.

“‘Seeds for the Future’ promotes the use of local crops and food while also strengthening networks that respect our natural resources. We believe in fostering conversations around sustainable solutions leading to a better future filled with opportunities.”

Ana Redondo
Marketing Manager at BBVA.

Solution.

BBVA prompted a strategic reflection on sustainable gastronomy and developed an action plan to address the risks that crop extinction poses to our legacy. The documentary “Seeds for the Future” follows BBVA’a ambassadors, the Roca chefs, as they embark on a journey in search of extinct flavors while discussing the loss of biodiversity. Additionally, the bank launched a content plan on sustainable gastronomy to explore sustainable food practices using local tools.
