LLYC’s public affairs area in Spain and Portugal is reorganized to strengthen the quality of service to customers and anticipate the challenges of the discipline for the coming years. Accordingly, Carlos Ruiz Mateos becomes head of the Public Affairs business for Spain and Portugal. Meanwhile, Carmen Muñoz will be in charge of innovation projects in Public Affairs. The firm has also strengthened its team structure by promoting Lara Contreras and José Gallego as new directors.

Carlos Ruiz Mateos brings over 15 years of experience in public affairs, institutional relations and communications, gained in LLYC’s offices in Spain, Portugal and Latin America. In his new role, he will focus on customer service and positioning the company in the public affairs sector. He will also work to consolidate the specialized offices that the department has been creating since last year (NextGen Agro; Circular Economy; Security, Defense and Space; and Digital Economy and Society) and will develop new offerings, with the participation of senior advisors who will contribute their experience and knowledge. In the case of Portugal, Carlos will work in coordination with the local public affairs area leader, Maria Eça, Senior Director of Public Affairs based in Lisbon.

Carmen Muñoz, from the area’s innovation department, will drive, together with Joan Navarro, the offer of integrated solutions to the two great current challenges of public affairs at a global level: incorporating technology and data management and adding value to companies’ business results with an advanced solution for measuring the impact of public affairs activity.

LLYC has also promoted two area managers as new directors. Lara Contreras will be in charge of developing services in sectors of activity with high growth and projection such as digital economy, health and social license to operate. She will thus head the Office of Digital Economy and Society. Likewise, José Gallego, new Intelligence Director, reinforces his position in the Political Context team, at a time of enormous territorial and competitive dynamism, where multiple legislative and political scenarios are opening up, for whose anticipation, analysis and prospection technology and data will be the key allies.

In the words of Carlos Ruiz Mateos, LLYC’s Senior Public Affairs Director for Spain and Portugal: “We will promote specialization and technology applied to public affairs as critical factors for growth and consolidation of our leadership in the sector, in order to continue offering a unique service to our customers.”

“The new structure offers us the opportunity to rethink and design new public affairs solutions for our clients, networking with all our offices,” explains  Joan Navarro, Partner and Vice President of Public Affairs at the firm.
