Artificial intelligence is reshaping how brands must engage with consumers. It’s no longer enough to move people. Now, brands must also convince the algorithm. The age of the ‘click internet’ is coming to an end. More than 35% of global searches are now answered directly by AI, with no need for users to click through to a website. In this new landscape, AI becomes another key player in the influence ecosystem, one that decides which brands are seen, which narratives are amplified, and which players earn consumer trust.

LLYC’s new report, Machine Marketing, outlines a strategic framework for companies to turn AI into an ally throughout the customer journey. And it pays off: brands that adopt this approach see conversion rates rise by up to 20%.

The report warns that over 70% of current digital visibility investments go unprocessed by AI systems, making entire campaigns, content pieces, and brand efforts invisible to the algorithms that now mediate most interactions between brands and their audiences. As a result, the challenge is no longer just reaching people, but training machines to understand, surface, and recommend your brand in a credible, consistent way.

“Marketing is now inherently dual,” says Federico Isuani, Partner & Americas Marketing Solutions General Director at LLYC. “Brands must build trust on two levels: emotionally connecting with people, and algorithmically earning visibility and credibility with AI. Machine Marketing empowers companies to compete on both fronts and prepares them for a future where conversations with machines define reputation and drive business.”

Machines are already listening, learning, and deciding. The report concludes that the question is no longer whether to speak to them, but rather what we are saying and how we are training them.

The four levers of machine marketing
LLYC’s model proposes four strategic levers for brands to operate in this new era of dual marketing (humans + algorithms):

  1. AI Visibility Activation: Audit your algorithmic footprint to understand how AI currently perceives your brand.
  2. Website Visibility: Design content that is optimized for machine comprehension, not just human connection.
  3. Answer Engine Optimization (AEO): Position your brand to become the answer AI models serve up, not just a search result.
  4. MAGIA Content: Use generative creativity guided by human insight, combining AI scale with expert direction.
