LLYC has named Rafael Escofet Global Healthcare Lead, bolstering its commitment to the health sector. With more than 15 years of experience in the sector, including leadership roles at major pharmaceutical companies such as Gilead Sciences, Escofet will be responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive business plan that opens new, high-impact opportunities. His initial focus will be on the U.S. market as the firm’s main driver of expansion.
Escofet’s goal is to position LLYC as a leading partner in strategic communications, marketing, and public affairs for the health sector, fostering alliances and strategic relationships with key stakeholders. He will oversee the firm’s Healthcare teams across the United States, Europe, and Latin America to ensure clients receive a consistent and competitive offering.
Under his leadership, LLYC’s Healthcare unit will advance projects that connect reputation, communications, and corporate leadership with access, stakeholder engagement, digital transformation, omnichannel strategies, creativity, and advertising.
“This new chapter is an opportunity to apply everything I’ve learned in the industry and continue growing professionally,” says Rafael Escofet. “Leading LLYC’s global Healthcare practice means I will work alongside an exceptional team, support companies in the sector as they face new challenges, and help build a stronger future for health communications.”
“Throughout his career, Rafa has stood out for his strategic and global vision, as well as for his ability to integrate reputation, innovation, digitalization, and stakeholder engagement as engines of sustainable growth,” says Luisa García, Partner and Global CEO of Corporate Affairs at LLYC. “His leadership combines deep operational experience in the pharmaceutical sector with a mindset rooted in transformation and purpose, aligned with LLYC’s commitment to being a strategic partner for the organizations shaping the future of health.”
Throughout his professional career, Escofet has held executive positions in the biopharmaceutical industry. Before joining LLYC, he gained extensive experience at Gilead Sciences, where he held leadership roles across Latin America and the Caribbean for nearly a decade. He later served as a strategic adviser, supporting senior leadership teams in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
In his most recent position as Executive Director of Alliance Management for the Intercontinental region, he advised the leadership team and General Managers on market expansion strategies, key negotiations, and distribution and partnership models. Previously, he served as General Manager for Central America and the Caribbean, and as Senior Director of Sales and Marketing for Northern Latin America, where he led the launch and expansion of innovative therapies in HIV and Hepatitis C, strengthening access models that improved treatment availability in emerging markets.
Rafael began his career at Laboratorios Salvat, where he contributed to the company’s expansion in Latin America by strengthening its distribution network and opening new markets. He also worked as an independent consultant in commercial strategy and business development, supporting biopharmaceutical companies in emerging markets.
