IES COTES BAIXES is a benchmark in active methodologies and flexible learning environments. Its competitive advantage lies in its symbiosis with the business ecosystem and in a clear commitment: an education where design and technology enhance the human element.
However, its strategic plan—ambitious and well defined—existed as a static and complex document. The data existed, but it was scattered across spreadsheets. Information was not shared as part of the culture. In an education sector that handles large volumes of data that often remain in isolated reports, the challenge was clear: to digitalize with purpose and demonstrate real impact to the administration, families, and society. The leadership team needed the school’s direction to be clear and visible in real time for everyone.
How could strategy be turned into a shared language that aligned 1,200 people under the same vision?
Solution
We developed a comprehensive strategic visualization system composed of three customized dashboards: Learning, International, and Future. It wasn’t just about designing dashboards. We applied a Data as a Service approach adapted to the educational environment. We took the data out of the office and integrated it into the school’s physical spaces.
We designed interfaces optimized for large-format videowalls and installed the screens in high-traffic areas, turning information into part of the everyday environment of the school. Data stopped being technical reports and became accessible visual narratives.
- The Learning dashboard allows visualization of the SDG impact on the educational curriculum.
- The International dashboard monitors Erasmus+ mobility and provides qualitative analysis of destinations and partners.
- The Future dashboard offers data on employment outcomes, time to employment, and recurring hiring companies.
We organized the information into dynamic modules with annual comparisons and clear visualizations that make it easy to interpret the school’s real impact at a glance. Additionally, we acted as change facilitators, aligning the leadership team’s vision, led by Fernando Sansaloni, with technical execution. Transparency stopped being an intention and became a shared practice.
As the director himself noted:
“How could we give value to the student who comes here? Through a personal dashboard.” “The problem was that the data was in Excel sheets. And even if you counted it, people didn’t make it tangible—they didn’t see it.”
Strategy was no longer invisible. It became a guide.
