Cannes Lions is already underway, and the first news of the week comes from Sosegá. The cultural project by Cervezas Alhambra achieves two shortlists: one in Entertainment Lions, within the Brand Integration category, and another in Entertainment Lions for Music, in Cultural Engagement.
Sosegá translates Cervezas Alhambra‘s philosophy of a life without rush into a living expression of Spanish culture. It is the first new flamenco palo in nearly 100 years, created to express calmness and inspired by the unhurried rhythm of Granada, the birthplace of both flamenco and Cervezas Alhambra.
The project was born from an especially complex creative challenge: to develop something entirely new while respecting the authenticity and technical rigor of a deeply rooted tradition. To make it possible, 14 of the leading figures of flamenco participated in the creation of this new palo, combining different generations, perspectives, and ways of understanding the genre.
Its most disruptive idea is the absence of a final chord, a decision that breaks with one of the conventions that define flamenco and turns calmness not only into the project’s inspiration but also into an essential part of its musical structure.
The creation process was captured in a 20-minute documentary that brought the artists together to collaborate and improvise under the inspiration of Granada. Furthermore, the 14 participants performed original compositions in Sosegá, taking the project beyond an advertising piece to turn it into a cultural expression capable of being experienced in different formats.
The proposal later expanded its reach through reinterpretations alongside some of the most popular artists on the Spanish pop, trap, and electronic scenes. In this way, Sosegá connected flamenco tradition with contemporary musical culture and brought the project closer to new audiences and generations.
The two shortlists precisely recognize that ability to integrate the brand into a living cultural expression and to use music as a space for connection between tradition, innovation, and new audiences.
With Sosegá, Cervezas Alhambra steps away from solely playing the role of sponsor to actively participate in cultural creation. The philosophy of a life without rush is not limited to being communicated, but is transformed into an experience that can be listened to, performed, and shared.
