Chile has elected José Antonio Kast (Republican Party) as president for the 2026–2030 term, winning 58% of the vote in yesterday’s runoff. With a Congress fragmented into 17 parties, the new administration will need to forge consensus to deliver on the expectations raised during the campaign, with security, economic growth, employment, and healthcare as top priorities.

Nearly three months remain until the new president takes office on March 11. However, every move he makes starting today to shape his Administration and signal priorities will define and condition his ability to articulate consensus and drive his agenda forward.

In this document, you will find:

  • Campaign priorities impacting major economic sectors that require significant legislative support to succeed.

  • An analysis of the decisive factors in public discourse during the election, which now serves as a reflection of the expectations generated.

A guide to interpreting the President-Elect’s first days and how they might shape his ability to push the country’s political and economic agenda starting March 11.
