Carlos Parry will now lead LLYC’s Healthcare practice in Europe, with the goal of consolidating the Marketing and Corporate Affairs consultancy as a strategic partner of reference for the healthcare sector at a decisive moment for the industry.
As Europe Healthcare Lead, his role will include coordinating teams across LLYC’s European offices and delivering value to help clients successfully address their challenges. The current context—marked by regulatory transformation, biomedical innovation, and the need to strengthen the sustainability of healthcare systems—presents a unique opportunity to foster dialogue, build alliances, and generate solutions that benefit companies, institutions, and patients.
Since joining LLYC in 2024, Parry has led the Public Affairs practice for Healthcare, helping strengthen the firm’s positioning in the sector. During this time, he has built a highly specialized team capable of addressing both public affairs and market access challenges.
In the current landscape, healthcare organizations will need to intensify foresight and analysis, effectively mapping political, regulatory, and social risks and opportunities in order to design strategies aligned with the European health agenda, while also strengthening engagement with public decision-makers, multilateral organizations, NGOs, and patient associations. Equally essential will be the development of strong narratives on the value of innovation, equitable access, and sustainability, supported by multichannel campaigns that combine science, technology, and social purpose to reach both stakeholders and the wider public. Finally, they must continue to reinforce crisis and risk management protocols to address disinformation, reputational threats, or controversies around pricing and access, while promoting innovation through the use of data, AI, and digital marketing to engage stakeholders in a segmented, measurable, and transparent way.
Parry brings extensive experience in public affairs within the healthcare sector, both in Spain and in Brussels. In the public sector, he held senior advisory roles, including as an advisor in the Cabinet of the Spanish Minister of Health (2016–2018), where he coordinated Spain’s technical bid to host the European Medicines Agency. He also worked as an advisor at the European Parliament on several occasions.
In the private sector, he developed his career in pharmaceutical companies such as Merck and AstraZeneca, where he led the Government Affairs team in Spain and Brussels. During the pandemic, he played a key role in creating public–private partnership projects that positioned the company as a strategic partner to the Spanish Government. He was also part of the Public Affairs team at EFPIA, the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations.
According to Carlos Parry: “Europe is at a decisive moment for health and innovation. At LLYC, we have both the opportunity and the responsibility to drive conversations that bring together different stakeholders and build long-term solutions that benefit patients and healthcare systems. This will be the guiding principle of our work in this new chapter. I take on this challenge with the firm purpose of further consolidating LLYC as a strategic partner for the healthcare industry in Europe.”
Jorge López Zafra, Partner and Managing Director of Corporate Affairs for LLYC in Europe, added: “Our aim is to provide value at a pivotal time for the healthcare sector, where challenges demand legitimacy, institutional dialogue, innovation management, social trust, and sustainability. We want to help our clients by combining local knowledge with a global perspective—being the partner that translates complexity into clear strategies, connects with the right stakeholders, and turns reputation and trust into a true business asset.”
Alongside his role at LLYC, Parry also serves as President of APRI (the Spanish Association of Public Affairs Professionals). In his two years in this role, he has doubled the size of the association, positioning it as a benchmark for public affairs professionals in Spain, while strengthening its presence through delegations in Brussels and Barcelona. He has also established the organization as a key interlocutor in the ongoing legislative process regulating lobbying activity in Spain.
Carlos holds a Law degree and a Master’s in Communication, Event Organization, and Public Affairs.
