Carlos Parry joins LLYC as Senior Director of Healthcare Public Affairs in Spain. From this position he will drive the healthcare and pharma practice of the consultancy, with a focus on public affairs advice to companies in the sector and the Madrid-Brussels axis in view of the upcoming European elections. He joins a team of more than 60 professionals specialized in public affairs and healthcare in Europe.

Specifically, Parry joins both LLYC’s global Healthcare team, led by Georgina Rosell, Partner and Senior Director of Healthcare, and Public Affairs, led by Carlos Ruiz for Spain. He will also work in coordination with the European Affairs and NextGen EU team in Brussels, led by Paloma Baena.

Parry has extensive knowledge of the public and private sector. He has held important roles in the Ministry of Health as an advisory member or coordinating Barcelona’s candidacy to host the EMA and in the European Parliament. In the private sector he has been responsible for public affairs in the pharmaceutical companies Merck, AstraZeneca or the European employers’ association EFPIA.

His last position was at AstraZeneca, where he joined three years ago at a time of reputational crisis resulting from the management of vaccines during the pandemic. He played a decisive role in recovering relations with the Spanish Government, positioning the British company as a reference partner of the Executive. It has enabled a global R&D hub to be set up in Barcelona, where more than 1,000 people will be working with an expected investment of 800 million euros.

For Georgina Rosell, Partner and Senior Director of Healthcare at LLYC: “Carlos Parry will bring us his knowledge and experience in the field of public affairs specialized in health and pharma from the public and private sector, allowing us to adapt the firm’s offer to the current needs of clients”.

“Becoming part of LLYC will allow us to help more companies or organizations in the health sector and thus accelerate from the firm the much needed public-private collaboration to face the current health challenges”, assures Carlos Parry.

“Our clients require us to know their sector and their business very well. With the incorporation of Carlos Parry we strengthen the services we offer to the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector in Spain, with a high degree of specialization. It is a highly regulated sector that values new creative approaches,” says Carlos Ruiz Mateos, Senior Director of Public Affairs in Spain and Portugal at LLYC.

Carlos Parry has recently been appointed president of APRI (Association of Institutional Relations Professionals), which advocates for the regulation of lobbying.
