‘Doors of Hope, promoted by the José Antonio Llorente Foundation in collaboration with Casa Frida and the Hilario Galguera Gallery, has been awarded in the 21 Agents of Change 2024, a recognition that highlights projects and initiatives that generate a positive impact on their communities. This important award underlines our commitment to highlighting the violence and discrimination faced by the LGBTQ+ community in Mexico and Latin America, and to creating safe and inclusive spaces.
‘Doors of Hope uses art as a powerful tool for transformation. Using doors from the homes of LGBTQ+ people who have been expelled or excluded, these doors were turned into canvases of stories of resilience and hope by national and international artists. Each artwork not only symbolises the struggle for dignity, but also raises funds for Casa Frida to create more safe shelters for the community.
The impact of this campaign has been outstanding: more than 3.2 million impressions, reaching 423,000 people, and 85,000 views on YouTube. This recognition in the 21 Agents of Change 2024 reinforces our commitment to continue using creativity and art to create meaningful change.
Thanks to all those who trusted us to carry out this project, and especially to our allies at Casa Frida and Galería Hilario Galguera! We continue to open doors towards a more inclusive and just future for the LGBTQ+ community.
