LLYC It focuses on the upcoming Ibero-American Summit, which will take place in Madrid on November 4 and 5, with the launch of a special edition of UNO , its always-on digital platform for the exchange of ideas . Entitled ‘The Atlantic Triangle’, this special issue brings together experts from Latin America, Europe, and the United States to analyze the geopolitical aspects of the summit, its economic repercussions, and the opportunities it presents for civil society.
“ That triangle is not a concept we chose for editorial opportunism. It is embedded in LLYC’s DNA.” “We’ve been operating in all three regions simultaneously for decades, forging relationships that aren’t improvised during an election cycle,” says Alejandro Romero , Partner and Global CEO of LLYC. In his article, he points out that “we have to stop viewing Latin America as an occasional market opportunity and start treating it as a platform for influence and leadership. It’s been asking for partners, not just investors, for some time now. We’re at a turning point, and companies that continue operating in business-as-usual mode will be late to the game.”
‘The Atlantic Triangle’ brings together a multidisciplinary panel of leading figures in economics, geopolitics, international trade, and culture. Contributors include economists and analysts Ramón Casilda and Ricardo Ávila; historian and researcher at the Elcano Royal Institute, Carlos Malamud; and foreign investment specialist Claudia Avila. Also contributing their perspectives are Flavio Bettarello and Sofía de Carril, experts in public administration and diplomacy; Mexican consultant Violeta Orozco; Chilean lawyer Arturo Alessandri; former President of the Portuguese National Assembly, Augusto Santos Silva and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, Víctor Bisonó. Together, they offer a comprehensive analysis of the political, socioeconomic, and strategic realities of the three continents.
The publication also includes a discussion between Pablo García-Berdoy, Director of European Affairs and Geopolitics at LLYC; Rocío Martínez-Sampere, Director of the Felipe González Foundation; and Andrea Rizzi, Global Affairs Correspondent for the newspaper El País. In the conversation, they analyze the political and economic situation in Latin America. They address the growing polarization, the region’s rightward shift, and the increase in insecurity due to organized crime, which is generating discontent with traditional democracy. Given the influence of the United States and China, the experts propose strengthening security agencies and advancing regional integration. They urge Europe and Spain to assume an active role as long-term strategic and institutional partners.
In the words of Pablo García-Berdoy: “To understand the present and anticipate the future, it is essential to listen, to try to understand what is happening and the different perspectives on why it is happening. With this special edition, we want to contribute to the analysis not only to respond to current circumstances, but to try to build a global agenda together.”
