This short article analyses the intense journey undertaken in the process of European integration, which started with just 6 States and currently sits at 28. Since 1951, date of the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community, the European Union has widened and deepened its scope.
However, it must face huge challenges that need to be addressed while being closer to citizens who, ultimately, are the great beneficiaries of such integration.
